Understanding Client Needs and Strategic Alignment
A. The Customer
The client is a leading institution dedicated to advancing research and innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies on the continent. Its mission includes developing technological solutions tailored to African needs and training a new generation of AI researchers and experts. The center’s activities include cutting-edge research, advanced training programs (AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing), the development of technological solutions for critical sectors, collaboration with universities, industries, and governments, as well as support for entrepreneurship in the digital field. The center’s positioning as an African leader in the ethical and inclusive application of AI was a central element taken into account in the strategy developed by Socials Analytica.
B. Socials Analytica’s Mandate: Comprehensive Strategic Support
The mandate entrusted to Socials Analytica covered a comprehensive project for the period from August through December 2024, encompassing several aspects of its launch and communications strategy:
- Digital Transformation: Including the evaluation and selection of a social media management platform.
- Social Media Management: Includes the design and planning of editorial calendars for Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and TikTok, as well as a sponsorship and fan recruitment campaign.
- WordPress Website Design and Development: Includes the creation of all pages, the integration of blog posts, and the implementation of specific plugins.
- Graphic Design for the Center’s Visual Identity: Including large-format posters, street banners, and roll-up banners.
- Graphic Design for a Street Marketing Event: Including booth design, bus wrapping, customization of promotional items, and the design of an interactive game.
- Design of a Center Brochure: In print and digital versions.
This multidisciplinary project required rigorous coordination and an integrated strategic vision, ensuring that each action contributed consistently to achieving the center’s overall objectives. Socials Analytica’s expertise in management, digital marketing, and digital transformation was leveraged to ensure high-quality execution and maximum impact. The success of launching an institution of this scale depends largely on its ability to effectively communicate its mission, vision, and achievements. Socials Analytica’s involvement was specifically aimed at equipping the client with the tools and strategies needed to meet this challenge by building a strong brand image and an engaging digital presence from the very beginning.
Implementation of the Digital Strategy: Social Media Management
Proactive and strategic social media management was a key pillar of the mission entrusted to Socials Analytica, which aimed to establish the client’s online presence, engage its target audiences, and support its launch.
A. Multi-Platform Editorial Strategy and Execution
1. Evaluating and Selecting a Social Media Management Platform
The first step in the digital transformation of social media management was to identify and select a management platform tailored to the center’s specific needs. Rather than limiting itself to a purely technical approach, Socials Analytica treated this selection as a fundamental strategic decision, intended to optimize operational efficiency and anticipate the center’s future growth.
The methodology employed involved an in-depth analysis of the client’s needs, taking into account the need to manage multiple platforms simultaneously (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok), the volume of content to be published, and the requirements for potential internal collaboration. The evaluation criteria focused on the platform’s compatibility with all major social media networks, the robustness of its reporting and analytics features for measuring the ROI of social media campaigns, the ease of collaboration for teams, and the solution’s scalability to support the center’s evolving needs. Particular attention was paid to analytics tools that enable tracking of specific engagement and performance metrics. The platform’s ability to integrate into a broader digital ecosystem and potentially leverage AI capabilities for content optimization or customer relationship management—an area of expertise for Socials Analytica—was also considered. The final choice was a solution offering an optimal balance between advanced features, user-friendliness, in-depth analytics capabilities, and a cost aligned with the allocated budget, while ensuring the ability to add additional users or social profiles without significant friction. This approach has equipped the center with a centralized, high-performance tool, which is essential for the coordinated and efficient management of its multichannel presence.
2. Design and Planning of Editorial Calendars
Drawing on its expertise in social media management and leveraging best practices in content strategy for each platform, Socials Analytica designed and planned customized editorial calendars for Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and TikTok. The goal was to maximize the reach, engagement, and impact of the center’s communications.
The overall editorial strategy was designed to ensure narrative consistency across all channels, while adapting the tone and format to the specific characteristics of each platform. For a scientific institution like the center, whose credibility rests on rigor and expertise, a unified digital narrative is crucial. Fragmented or inconsistent communication could have undermined the Center’s reputation for seriousness. Socials Analytica’s involvement therefore ensured that the core message—the Center’s excellence, mission, and impact—was communicated in a harmonious manner, thereby strengthening trust in and recognition of the brand.
The editorial calendars were structured around key content pillars, such as:
- Center News and Achievements: Announcements, research publications, technological advances.
- Science communication: Explaining AI concepts in an accessible way.
- Events: Promotion of conferences, seminars, workshops, and training sessions.
- Center Life: Behind the Scenes, Profiles of Researchers and Students, Ongoing Projects.
- Thought Leadership: Perspectives on AI Issues in Africa.
- Opportunities: Job openings, calls for proposals, scholarship programs.
The breakdown by platform was as follows:
- Facebook: Used as the primary platform to build a community, share general information, news, and accessible blog posts, and promote the center’s events. The focus has been on visual content (photos, short videos) accompanied by clear and engaging text, aimed at generating discussions and shares.
- Instagram: Focused on visual communication to highlight the center’s brand identity. High-quality photos and videos (Reels, Stories) were scheduled to showcase the facilities, teams, and events in an aesthetically pleasing and engaging way, and to humanize the institution. Interactive Stories (polls, questions) were planned to boost engagement.
- X (Twitter): Used for sharing real-time information, short announcements, monitoring AI trends, quickly sharing relevant articles, and interacting directly with the community and influencers.12 The use of strategic hashtags (e.g., #AIforAfrica) and threads for more detailed explanations has been incorporated.
- LinkedIn: Used to position the center as a thought leader and a key player in the professional AI ecosystem. Content included sharing in-depth articles written by the center’s experts, posting career and training opportunities, highlighting institutional and industry partnerships, and networking with professionals and organizations.
- TikTok: Used to reach a younger and broader audience by creating short, dynamic, and creative content. Videos explaining AI concepts in a simple and fun way, technology-related “challenges,” and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the center were planned, capitalizing on trends and popular sounds to maximize virality.16 Special attention was paid to capturing viewers’ attention within the first few seconds.
The main deliverable of this initiative consisted of detailed editorial calendars for each platform, specifying topics, content formats, key messages, relevant hashtags, and optimal posting frequencies, thereby providing a clear roadmap for the center’s digital communications.
B. Audience Growth & Engagement: Sponsorship and Fan Recruitment Campaign
For a new organization like our client, quickly reaching a qualified and engaged audience is a major challenge. While producing high-quality organic content is essential, it can take a considerable amount of time to generate significant traction. Recognizing this challenge, Socials Analytica incorporated a sponsorship and fan-recruitment campaign into the overall strategy. This proactive approach aimed to accelerate the building of an initial community and maximize the impact of the center’s launch.
The methodology adopted for this campaign was structured around several key steps, drawing on best practices in paid audience acquisition and leveraging Socials Analytica’s expertise in digital advertising (Search Engine Advertising, SMO):
- Goal Setting: Clear and measurable goals have been established, such as the number of new subscribers to acquire on each target platform, increasing the engagement rate on posts, and expanding the overall reach of the center’s messages.
- Precise Audience Targeting: Special attention was paid to identifying and targeting the audience segments most relevant to the center. This included demographic criteria (age, geographic location in Africa and within the diaspora), areas of interest (artificial intelligence, scientific research, new technologies, higher education), occupations (researchers, students, engineers, political and economic decision-makers), and online behaviors.17 The goal was not simply to “buy fans,” but to attract individuals and organizations likely to actively engage with the center’s content and contribute to its mission.
- Budget Allocation and Platform Selection: The budget was strategically allocated across various social media platforms, prioritizing those that offered the best targeting capabilities and the most promising return on investment for reaching the defined audiences.
- Creation of Optimized Advertising Content: Specific advertising content (visuals, videos, taglines) was designed to be engaging, informative, and aligned with the center’s image of excellence and innovation. These ads highlighted the center’s unique value proposition, its programs, or clear calls to action (e.g., “Follow us to discover the future of AI in Africa,” “Sign up for our newsletter for exclusive news”).
- Implementation and Ongoing Monitoring: The campaigns were launched and monitored on an ongoing basis. Key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost per fan acquisition (CPF), click-through rate (CTR), engagement rate, and audience growth were closely monitored.
- Campaign Optimization: Based on the data collected, campaigns were optimized in real time: targeting adjustments, changes to ad creatives, and budget reallocation across different ads or platforms to maximize the effectiveness and return on ad spend. Agencies such as Digital Syndrom offer sponsorship and fan recruitment services, illustrating tactics that Socials Analytica was able to adapt and refine for the center’s specific context.
The integration of this paid campaign served as a catalyst, ensuring that the center’s high-quality content and new website reached a relevant audience from the very beginning of its launch. This initial visibility is crucial for building momentum, attracting the attention of the media, potential partners, and the target audience, and thereby laying the foundation for a strong and engaged online community. The deliverable from this initiative was a detailed report on the campaign’s performance, providing a transparent analysis of the results achieved and lessons learned for the center’s future digital marketing initiatives.
Development of a Core Digital Asset: The Center's Website
Creating a high-performing and representative institutional website was a key component of Socials Analytica’s mandate. This site was designed to serve as a central information hub, a showcase for the center’s excellence, and a platform for engaging its various stakeholders.
A. Custom WordPress Website Design and Development
Socials Analytica oversaw the entire design and development of the center’s official website, choosing the WordPress platform for its flexibility, robustness, and ease of content management. Although Socials Analytica’s specific expertise in WordPress development is not explicitly detailed on its public website 1, its overall offerings in “digital marketing” and “digital transformation” 1 naturally include website creation as a core service.
The development process followed a structured methodology based on best practices:
- Definition of the Website’s Strategic Objectives: In collaboration with the center, the site’s primary objectives have been clearly defined: to provide information about the center’s mission, research areas, and programs; to promote events and achievements; to attract talent (researchers, students); and to facilitate contact and foster partnerships.
- Information Architecture and User Journey: A clear and intuitive site map was designed to facilitate navigation and enable visitors to quickly find the information they are looking for. Emphasis was placed on an optimal user experience (UX).
- Theme Selection and Visual Design (UI): A professional, modern WordPress theme that aligns with the image of a cutting-edge AI research institution was selected and customized. A web design style guide (color palette, typefaces, iconography, and photography style) was developed to ensure visual consistency with the center’s overall identity.
- Development of Key Pages: All essential pages have been created and structured, typically including:
- Home Page (Compelling overview of our mission and news)
- About Us (History, Vision, Values, Governance)
- Research Areas (details of scientific research fields)
- Training Programs (Academic and Vocational Programs)
- Team (Introduction to Researchers and Key Staff)
- News / Blog (for knowledge sharing and announcements)
- Events (calendar of events)
- Partners (institutional and industrial collaborations)
- Contact (Information and Form)
- Technical Optimization: The site was developed with a focus on responsiveness (seamless adaptation to mobile and tablet formats), performance (optimized loading times), and security. The foundation for effective search engine optimization (SEO) was laid during the design phase (URL structure, semantic markup, image optimization).
- Testing: Rigorous testing was conducted to ensure that all features functioned properly across different browsers and devices before the site went live.
The deliverable for this phase was a fully functional WordPress website with a polished design, optimized for user experience and SEO, and serving as a true digital business card for the center.
B. Embedding Blog Posts
A dynamic “News” or “Blog” section has been integrated into the website. This feature is crucial for enabling the center to regularly publish value-added content: in-depth articles, research findings presented in layman’s terms, expert analyses of AI trends, and institutional communications. Since content creation is an essential driver of digital marketing 1 and SEO 25, this blog was designed to become a key tool for positioning the center as a thought leader in its field. The setup included designing article templates for optimal readability and an enjoyable reading experience. Training was provided to the center’s teams so they could independently manage and publish content.
C. Plugin Integration: Social Media Post Management and Event Calendar
To enhance the functionality of the WordPress site and connect it to the center’s broader digital ecosystem, Socials Analytica integrated specific plugins. This approach, which is standard in WordPress 23 development, was designed to automate certain tasks and provide interactive services to visitors.
- Social Media Integration: Plugins have been selected and configured to make it easier to share the site’s content (blog posts, event pages) on the center’s various social media platforms. This includes adding visible and eye-catching share buttons.27 It is also possible to embed social feeds directly on certain pages of the site (for example, a Twitter feed on the homepage or in a sidebar) to display recent activity and encourage users to follow the center’s social media accounts.27 Plugins were chosen for their proven effectiveness and minimal resource usage, so as not to negatively impact the site’s performance.
- Integration of an Events Calendar: To effectively manage and promote the center’s many activities (conferences, seminars, training sessions, webinars), a robust and customizable events calendar plugin has been integrated. Solutions such as “The Events Calendar” 29 allow users to create detailed event listings, display the calendar in different views (month, list, day), categorize events, and potentially integrate registration or ticketing features.29 Graphic customization has made it possible to align the calendar’s appearance with the site’s branding guidelines.
The integration of these plugins transforms the website from a simple informational showcase into a dynamic and interactive platform. The site thus becomes a central hub that not only disseminates information from the center but also encourages its viral spread through social media and facilitates direct public engagement with its activities. This vision of the website as a connected ecosystem, rather than an isolated entity, reflects a strategic approach aimed at maximizing its usefulness and impact. The resulting synergies—events promoted on the site and shared on social media, and social activity driving traffic back to the site—strengthen the center’s overall presence. The site is thus equipped with fully operational social sharing and event management features.
Visual Identity and Brand Strategy for Maximum Impact
Beyond the purely digital realm, Socials Analytica worked with the client to define and implement its visual identity across various physical and event-based media. The goal was to create a strong, consistent, and memorable brand image, which was essential for establishing the center’s credibility and recognition right from its launch.
A. Graphic Design for the Center’s Branding
To highlight the center’s physical presence and strengthen its identity within its premises and in its immediate surroundings, Socials Analytica designed several large-format visual displays. This initiative falls within the firm’s areas of expertise in “print consulting” and “event planning” 1, which require expertise in the design of physical materials.
The creations included:
- Large-format posters: Intended for display in strategic locations (within the center and at partner events), these posters were designed to convey key messages about the center’s mission, vision, or programs. The design prioritizes impactful visuals and a clear hierarchy of information to ensure quick comprehension.
- Street banners: To increase outdoor visibility—particularly during the launch or for specific events—banners were designed. Their design took into account the need to be legible from a distance and while in motion, featuring contrasting colors and a concise message.
- Rollup: Versatile and easy-to-transport displays, rollups are designed for use at the center’s reception area, at conferences, trade shows, or presentations. The design is optimized for vertical viewing, with the most important information at the top, a clear message, and relevant visuals.
The design methodology for these large-format displays adhered to strict principles:
- Simplicity and clarity of the message: Each piece of content was intended to convey a main idea directly.
- Optimal readability: Choose clear typefaces, font sizes appropriate for the reading distance, and high contrast between the text and the background.
- Visual Quality: It is essential to use very high-resolution images or vector graphics to prevent pixelation when printing.
- Brand consistency: Strict adherence to the center’s overall visual identity guidelines (logo, colors, typefaces).
- Technical considerations: Taking printing constraints into account (safety margins, bleed).
The deliverables consisted of high-resolution graphic files, ready for printing by the service providers selected by the center.
B. Immersive Graphic Design for the Launch Event (Street Marketing)
The center’s launch was marked by a street marketing event—a bold move for a scientific institution. Socials Analytica was tasked with all the graphic design for this event, aiming to create an immersive, engaging, and memorable experience for the public. This project drew directly on the firm’s expertise in “event planning.”
The graphic elements developed included:
- Booth Design: The booth was conceived as an attractive and interactive space that reflects the center’s innovative character. The design aimed to maximize visual appeal, clearly communicate key messages, and provide a welcoming space for visitors.
- Bus Wrapping for the Hostesses: A bus was transformed into a mobile advertising platform. The graphic design was created to be eye-catching, featuring bright colors, a clearly visible center logo, and messages that are clear and legible even while in motion, in order to maximize visibility in urban areas.
- Customization of “Street Marketing” Game Giveaways: Promotional items (goodies) were designed to be given to game participants. The selection focused on useful and desirable items that elegantly feature the center’s brand, in order to encourage their use and extend the brand’s visibility beyond the event.
- Online Game Branding: To ensure consistency between the event’s physical and digital experiences, the interface of the online game associated with the street marketing campaign was branded using the center’s colors and visual identity.
- Game Design and Wheel (of Fortune/Prizes) Design: An interactive game—potentially a wheel of fortune—was at the heart of the animation. Socials Analytica designed the visual elements of the game and the wheel, ensuring they were fun, engaging, and in line with the AI theme and the center’s brand identity.
Choosing a street marketing campaign to launch an AI research center may seem unconventional, but it reflects a clever communications strategy. This approach helped demystify a potentially complex subject and make it accessible to a broad audience, reaching beyond traditional academic and industrial circles. The use of playful elements and an approachable format aimed to create a positive, human, and memorable image of the center, while generating significant “buzz.” This demonstrates Socials Analytica’s ability to offer creative and tailored solutions—even for topics perceived as dry—by leveraging modern communication tools to maximize impact. The deliverables included all mockups and production files for these graphic elements.
C. Design of a Brochure for the Center
To round out the center’s communication tools, Socials Analytica designed a corporate brochure, available in two versions:
- Printed brochure: A high-quality, tangible resource intended for distribution at events, institutional meetings, or to visitors to the center. It was designed to provide a detailed overview of the center’s mission, programs, expertise, and ambitions.
- Online version of the brochure: A digital adaptation of the printed brochure, optimized for on-screen reading and online distribution (via email, on the website, and through social media). This version may include interactive elements.
The design of the printed brochure followed strict guidelines:
- A clear definition of the brochure’s purpose and its target audience.
- Selecting a format and fold type that are appropriate for the content and brand image (e.g., tri-fold, bi-fold).
- Writing concise, informative, and impactful content, with a focus on clarity of language.
- A selection of typefaces that ensure excellent readability and reflect the institution’s professionalism.
- Use of high-quality photographs and graphics.
- Include a clear call to action and the center’s complete contact information.
- Designing an eye-catching cover and a balanced, spacious layout.
- Careful selection of colors, paper types, and finishes for a premium look and feel.
For the online version, the focus was on the advantages of the digital format 43:
- Improved accessibility: Easy to share and view on a variety of devices.
- Cost-effectiveness: No printing or physical distribution costs.
- Interactivity: Ability to embed clickable hyperlinks (to the website, social media profiles, email addresses), videos, dynamic image galleries, and even forms.
- Responsive design: Ensures a comfortable reading experience on computers, tablets, and smartphones.
- Ease of updating: Changes can be made without reprinting.
- Performance Analysis: Tracks the number of views, clicks on links, and reading time, providing valuable data on reader engagement.
Socials Analytica’s expertise in “print consulting” and its mastery of digital tools made it possible to deliver two versions of the brochure, each optimized for its distribution channel, while maintaining consistency in messaging and visual identity. The deliverables consisted of print-ready files for the physical version and a digital file for the digital version.
Socials Analytica’s added value in this project lies in its ability to combine strategic expertise, technological proficiency, and creativity. Its in-depth understanding of the specific challenges faced by an artificial intelligence innovation center operating in a dynamic African context has enabled the development of tailored and relevant solutions. Socials Analytica has demonstrated its ability to provide comprehensive support, from the strategic planning and conceptualization phase through to the operational execution of various initiatives, while adhering to a strict commitment to confidentiality and focusing on concrete, measurable results.
All of the initiatives undertaken by Socials Analytica converged on the creation of the center’s first public footprint—both digital and physical. In today’s world, where first impressions are often decisive—especially for a new organization striving for excellence and international recognition—this role as the architect of that initial perception was of paramount importance. Socials Analytica did not simply provide a series of separate services but orchestrated a comprehensive and cohesive strategy. Every element delivered—from the social media management platform to editorial calendars, from the WordPress website to the graphic materials for the center’s branding and the launch event, right down to the institutional brochure—was designed to interact harmoniously, reinforcing a unified image of professionalism, innovation, and accessibility.
With these foundations in place, the client now has a solid platform from which to confidently tackle the next stages of its development. With a strong brand image and effective communication channels, the center is now better equipped to achieve its ambitious goals, expand its reach across Africa and beyond, and establish itself as a key player in artificial intelligence research and innovation. Socials Analytica’s expertise in management, digital marketing, and digital transformation 1 was a key driver in the success of this critical initial phase.
